HIPEC / PIPAC

Peritoneal carcinomatosis — the spread of cancer across the lining of the abdominal cavity — is treated with two advanced, complementary techniques.

HIPEC (Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy) combines surgical removal of visible tumor deposits with a heated chemotherapy solution circulated directly through the abdominal cavity, targeting microscopic disease that surgery alone cannot reach.

PIPAC (Pressurized Intraperitoneal Aerosol Chemotherapy) delivers chemotherapy as a pressurized aerosol during a minimally invasive procedure, offering an option for patients with more widespread peritoneal disease or those who need repeated, lower-intensity treatment cycles.

Both techniques require close coordination between surgery and oncology, and Prof. Dr. Yedibela works within that multidisciplinary framework to offer patients with peritoneal cancer a genuine surgical option where none may have existed before.

Why timely assessment matters

Tumours of the digestive system often cause few or no symptoms until they are advanced. A prompt surgical opinion establishes whether an operation is possible, how much healthy tissue can be preserved, and in what order surgery, chemotherapy, and other treatment should be given. A second opinion is worthwhile even when an operation has been ruled out elsewhere.

What to expect

Every case is reviewed individually. Prof. Dr. Yedibela examines your imaging and pathology, tells you directly whether surgery is appropriate, and coordinates any chemotherapy or other treatment needed before and after the operation.
