Pancreas

Pancreatic surgery is one of the most demanding fields in oncological surgery, and one of Prof. Dr. Yedibela's primary areas of focus.

The pancreas can be affected by both malignant and benign conditions, ranging from aggressive pancreatic cancer to inflammatory disease such as acute and chronic pancreatitis. Because pancreatic tumors often stay silent until they are advanced, early recognition of symptoms and prompt referral for surgical evaluation make a decisive difference to outcomes.

Treatment is planned individually for each patient, taking into account tumor type, stage, and overall health, with surgery frequently combined with oncological and gastroenterological care to manage disease before, during, and after the operation.

Why timely assessment matters

Tumours of the digestive system often cause few or no symptoms until they are advanced. A prompt surgical opinion establishes whether an operation is possible, how much healthy tissue can be preserved, and in what order surgery, chemotherapy, and other treatment should be given. A second opinion is worthwhile even when an operation has been ruled out elsewhere.
